The 2015 Amira International ‘Collaborative Research: impact and driver for discovery’ conference will be held from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th March 2015 at the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort, in South Australia.

The conference will open with a casual welcome dinner on Tuesday evening, which will allow industry peers the opportunity to network prior to the conference kick off on Wednesday.

The conference program will begin at 9am on Wednesday morning and conclude at 5pm on Thursday afternoon. There will be ample opportunities for industry colleagues to network throughout the conference.

Registration inclusions

Includes attendance at conference sessions on both Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th March. It also includes the welcome reception on Tuesday night and formal dinner on Wednesday night. Conference catering will also be provided on both days. Please advise of any dietary requirements when registering.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations must be received in writing, either via email or mail directly to SJ Venues & Events. Cancellations will not formally accepted until you have received a written confirmation back from SJ Venues & Events. If you have not received acknowledgement within two business days, please contact Steve Jervis at SJ Venues (+61) 3 8613 8461.

Accommodation T&C’s

Please complete the accommodation section of the registration for to secure accommodation. Delegates are responsible for completing and send this to SJ Venues & Events to guarantee their room. Once submitted, your booking will be transferred to the Novotel Barossa valley Resort, who will in turn charge your credit card according to their T&C’s. If you arrive 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day you may find that you have forfeited one night’s accommodation as a cancellation fee. If you need to cancel your accommodation you must contact the hotel directly for any applicable refund. Accommodation cannot be refunded within 30 business days of the conference. Please note that there are surcharges on credit card transactions at the hotel; please contact the hotel directly if you wish know individual surcharge rates.

Registrations

Final registrations for EMC15 will close on Friday 27th February 2015. Acceptance after this date is at the discretion of Amira International. Amira International cannot guarantee that conference collateral will be available for delegates registering after the closing date. In addition to this, there is a risk that social program functions may also be fully subscribed. This policy has been implemented to enable a greater efficiency in the coordination necessary during the lead-up to the conference and to ensure an enjoyable conference experience for everyone involved.

Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that delegates take out their own travel insurance. Insurance policies should cover loss of fees/deposit, airfares, accommodation charges, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property and repatriation expenses. The insurance should also cover potential losses arising from the cancellation of the conference by Amira International or a person’s inability to attend due to any reason whatsoever. No responsibility is taken by SJ Venues & Events for any person not holding insurance.

Location & Venue

The Barossa Valley is a major wine producing region and tourist destination of South Australia, located 60 km northeast of Adelaide. It is the valley formed by the North Parra River, and the Barossa Valley Way is the main road through the valley connecting the main towns on the valley floor of Nuriootpa, Tanunda, Rowland Flat and Lyndoch.

The Novotel Barossa Valley Resort is a restful haven nestled among the vines, just over an hours drive from Adelaide, adjacent to the 18 hole Tanunda Pines Golf Course and boasting panoramic views across the Barossa Ranges and Jacobs Creek Vineyards.

How do I get from the airport to the conference venue?

Complimentary coach transportation will be provided from Adelaide CBD to the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort on Tuesday 17th March. Travel time between Adelaide and the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort is approximately 75 minutes.


Where is the conference venue ?

The conference is being held at the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort.


What will the weather be like?

South Australia has a reputation for hot dry weather during late summer and early autumn. A tip for any visitor is to be prepared – a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and loose clothing would be recommended for any outdoor activity. A raincoat should be brought in case of inclement weather, which can be used as needed. In March the average daytime temperature in the region is 23-260C.


How do I pay for my accommodation?

When you register your attendance at the conference, please complete the conference registration form and email it back to events@sjvenues.com.au. An reply email will be issued advising of receipt of your email. Your credit card details will be securely transferred to the hotel.
If you arrive 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day you may find that you have forfeited your deposit. If you have any queries relating to your accommodation booking, please contact the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort directly.


Important information for International Delegates


Changing Money

International airports and major hotels provide money-changing facilities. Banks are generally open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am – 4.00pm. Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are widely available.

Credit Cards

Major credit cards, including VISA, MasterCard & Amex are readily accepted.

Currency

All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST.

Electricity

Australian electricity supply is 240V, 50Hz. The connection for appliances is a flat 3-pin plug.

Customs

Delegates carrying commercial goods or samples may need to obtain permits for their goods depending on the nature of the goods, regardless of value. Quarantine and wildlife regulations and other restrictions may also apply to certain goods. All travellers must declare amounts of $10,000 or more in foreign or Australian currency (notes and coins) you take into, or out of Australia. For more information visit www.customs.gov.au.

Letter of Invitation

The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS)

International travellers can claim a refund of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on goods bought in Australia. The refund only applies to goods taken as hand luggage upon departure. Visas

All international delegates, apart from New Zealand citizens, must obtain a Visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) before travelling to Australia. Please ensure you organise your documentation well in advance of travel.

Australia’s Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is an electronically stored authority for travel to Australia for a short-term tourist or business entry. ETAs are issued within seconds of being requested through computer links between the Australian Immigration Department, travel agents, airlines and specialist service providers around the world. Over 30 countries around the world have access to the free ETA system.

Conference delegates from non-ETA countries will need to obtain a Business (short stay) visa, even if some tourism activities are planned for part of the stay in Australia.
